The Freescale processor-based System-on-Modules from Strategic Test are complete computers that have been implemented on a board that is smaller than a credit card. The modules are used in new product designs and eliminate the significant costs of designing your own computer subsystem, customizing Linux or Windows CE and providing lifetime support of this hardware and OS.
Compared to other options available, our specialty is to create SOM’s with the smallest physical size and lowest power consumption. This makes them especially suitable for fanless embedded systems that require the longest battery life.
In addition to the TX modules we also offer a Hardware Reference Platform. The Development Kit-5 includes a baseboard, the relevant TX module preloaded with Linux, cable to host PC and a CD supplied with Linux and Windows CE BSP’s, Linux sources, documentation and the baseboard schematic. It’s a company policy that we only supply SOM’s to customer who have purchase a Development Kit.
Compared to ourMarvell SOM’s, the TX modules have two main advantages: 1) all of the TX series are pin-compatible. This means that you can design one simple 2 or 4 layer baseboard and scale the system performance by using different modules in the family. This concept also helps to protect the design against obsolescence as future modules will continue this concept. 2) the Freescale Longevity Program guarantees a long-term availability of 7 years.

TX28 module
The TX28S is the latest SOM from Strategic Test and also our lowest-priced module. Based on the i.MX283 running at 454 MHz it includes 64 MByte DDR2 SDRAM and 128 MByte NAND Flash memory.
