The TX Development Kit-5 (P/N: TDK-5) is a ready-to-use development system for creating applications based on the Freescale i.MX25, i.MX27, i.MX28, i.MX51 or i.MX53 processors running either Windows CE 6.0 or Linux 2.6.x.
The Kit-5 is compatible with all of our “TX” series of Freescale Computer-on-Modules. Computer-on-Modules (COM’s) are a great way to reduce both time and costs to develop a new product, as the most complicated design areas (processor system and operating system driver development) are already done. In addition, the cost of maintenance is reduced as :
| • | future software updates are supplied at no cost by simply downloading the latest versions from our website, and |
| • | warranty repair costs are lowered because the SOM can be easily replaced if a fault occurs on the carrier board. |
Furthermore, while one part of the development team is developing software, the hardware engineers can quickly develop a simple 2 or 4-layer custom carrier board (similar to the Kit-5 carrier board) that will ultimately form the basis of your new product design.
Each Development Kit is supplied with a BSP package that is suitable for the specific module delivered with the Kit. If you want to use more than one module type in the Kit, then a BSP Upgrade option for that additional module needs to be purchased. For example, a single Kit could then support both the TX27 and TX53 modules.
